The civic body has planned to start the first batch in the proposed postgraduation medical college from May 2023
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has been received a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for starting the first batch of Post Graduate Degree (PG) in the city, NMMC PRO Mahendra Konde said.The civic body has planned to start the first batch in the proposed medical college from May 2023.
The letter received from the Ministry recently stated that the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Navi Mumbai will be exempted from having an undergraduate teaching facility, he said.
During the first and second wave of Covid, the civic body faced an acute shortage of medical staff including doctors and nurses and it had to rely on contract workers.
As per the plan,In the first phase, five branches of medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology and paediatrics will be started the college, which is being planned, he said, adding that 11 branches will be started in a phased manner.In this connection, the civic body has also planned to find a separate place and arrange an administrative and residential complex (hostel).
